What is Reiki?
Reiki, pronounced (Ray-Key) is a Japanese technique which reduces stress and promotes relaxation and healing to the body, mind and spirit.
The word Reiki means life force energy or universal energy. This is the energy that flows through and around all living things. If your life force energy is low or if there are blockages to this energy, you are more vulnerable to illness.
During a Reiki session the Reiki practitioner uses a variety of hand positions over the energy centers in the body to help balance and restore a natural flow of energy. This is done with a very light touch or the hands can be slightly above the body for those sensitive to touch.
The client remains fully clothed and may rest comfortably on a massage table or seated in a chair. You may experience pleasant sensations of warmth flowing through the body. It is a very relaxing experience.
Most people report feeling deep relaxation, improved focus, feelings of well-being and improved sleep. Reiki has been used to treat every known illness.
Reiki is not meant to replace traditional medicine. It is an alternative therapy that compliments all forms of traditional Western medicine. Reiki is not a religion, but is spiritual in nature.
